About this course
Most companies that buy Power BI end up using a fraction of it. Someone builds a report, it looks impressive in a meeting, and six months later it has not been refreshed because the one person who understood the data model has moved on. The tool was never the constraint. What was missing was a team that understood how the pieces fit: where the data comes from, how the model is shaped, and how a measure differs from a column.
This course teaches that end to end, in the order the work actually happens. Day one is data: connecting to sources, cleaning with Power Query, and building a model with proper relationships. Day two is analysis and delivery: DAX measures, report design that a manager can read in ten seconds, and publishing to the Power BI service with sensible sharing and refresh.
Because it runs in-house, the case study is your own data, prepared during scoping — sales, operations, HR or finance. The group leaves with a working report they built themselves and the understanding to maintain it, which is the difference between a dashboard and a dashboard that is still in use next year.

Questions
›What licences do we need?
Power BI Desktop, where reports are built, is a free download. Sharing reports through the Power BI service needs the right licensing for the people publishing and viewing — typically Power BI Pro or Premium Per User licences, or an organisational capacity.
Licensing is the most common reason a Power BI rollout stalls after training, so we ask what you have during scoping and shape the publishing module around it.
›Does this prepare our team for the PL-300 exam?
It covers much of the ground the Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) exam tests, but it is a working course rather than exam preparation. The exam itself is booked separately through Microsoft’s exam provider.
If some of your team need the certification, mention it when you request a quote and we will advise on the options.
›Do participants need to know Excel first?
They should be comfortable with Excel — filters, basic formulas, ideally PivotTables. Power BI builds on the same ideas. A group that is not there yet gets more from the Excel course first, and we will say so honestly at scoping.
›Is Power BI training HRD Corp claimable?
Yes, where the training provider and the specific course are registered with HRD Corp and your company applies for the grant before the training starts. In-house fees are capped per group per day, not per person.
›Can we use our own company data?
Yes. The case study is built from a sample of your data during scoping. If the data is sensitive, a masked copy with the same structure works just as well for the exercises.
