Excel Training Johor Bahru, HRDF Claimable — at your office or site
Excel and Power BI for logistics, manufacturing and cross-border teams in Johor Bahru, built on the files that move between Johor and Singapore every day.
Covering Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Pasir Gudang, Skudai, Senai, Kulai, Batu Pahat and Muar.
Excel training in Johor Bahru runs at your office or site anywhere in Johor, and is HRDF claimable for registered employers.
- Johor Bahru sits at the point where Malaysian operations meet Singapore ones.
- Plenty of companies here are the Malaysian arm of a Singapore business, or a Singapore company’s factory, warehouse or back office, and their spreadsheets show it: two currencies, two sets of public holidays, and reports that must reconcile on both sides of the Causeway.
- Add the ports and industrial estates of Pasir Gudang and Tanjung Pelepas, and Johor’s everyday office work is heavy on logistics and operations data.
- In-house training brings the trainer to your site in Johor Bahru or elsewhere in the state and builds the course around those files — shipment registers, carrier exports, currency-converted management accounts.
- The course runs on dates you set, and the exercises are your own work, rebuilt properly.
Excel training for Johor Bahru ports, logistics and the paperwork between them
Johor Port operates at the Pasir Gudang Industrial Estate, which the port describes as home to petrochemicals, engineering, furniture, telecommunications, electronic goods and food manufacturing. The Port of Tanjung Pelepas, in Iskandar Puteri, is a container terminal with its own free zone. Around both are forwarders, hauliers, warehouses and the manufacturers who ship through them.
The Excel work in these businesses is matching: containers against bookings, invoices against rate cards, deliveries against purchase orders. Training for Johor logistics teams puts the weight on XLOOKUP and multi-condition lookups, Power Query to merge the exports from different carriers or terminals, and PivotTables that show where cost or delay concentrates. Power BI follows when the same view is needed by operations, finance and the customer.
Excel training for teams working across the Causeway
Cross-border reporting brings its own Excel problems, and a course for a Johor Bahru team can address them directly. Currency is the obvious one: a clean exchange-rate table, looked up by date, instead of rates typed into formulas. Working-day calculations are another — NETWORKDAYS.INTL with separate holiday lists for Malaysia, Johor and Singapore, so that lead times and service levels are measured correctly on both sides.
The cross-border relationship is also being formalised. Malaysia and Singapore concluded the agreement on the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone in January 2025, and MIDA lists flagship areas including the Johor Bahru waterfront, Tanjung Pelepas, Senai–Skudai, Desaru–Penawar and Forest City. More shared operations mean more shared reporting, which is the work these courses are built around.
HRDF funding for a Johor course
Where the provider and course are registered with HRDF and the grant is applied for before training starts, an in-house course is claimable up to RM10,500 per group per full day under the January 2026 Allowable Cost Matrix. The matrix also allows a meal allowance of up to RM100 per trainee per day, and, where the trainer travels 100km or more from another town, a daily allowance of up to RM500 and the airfare.
It is worth checking the levy balance before planning. Levy that is not used within 2 years is forfeited down to a floor of RM10,000, and a successful claim resets that clock. Searches for Microsoft training in Malaysia peak in September, the season when many employers review their levy balance — a sensible moment for a Johor Bahru company to check what is about to lapse.
Where in Johor
Courses run at your premises across the state. Companies with a head office in the city and operations in the industrial areas choose between one central venue and a batch at each site.
| Where your team is | How it is arranged |
|---|---|
| Johor Bahru city, Iskandar Puteri | At your office or a nearby venue |
| Pasir Gudang, Masai | At your site’s training room |
| Skudai, Senai, Kulai | At your premises, or combined with a city batch |
| Batu Pahat, Muar | At your premises, often as batches on consecutive days |
Which course for which Johor team
Logistics coordinators and customer-service teams in Johor Bahru start with the two-day Excel course, weighted to lookups, data validation and PivotTables. Finance teams consolidating Malaysian and Singapore figures move to Advanced Excel for Power Query and a proper exchange-rate model. Operations managers who need a live view of shipments, stock or output are the Power BI group.
Where a Johor office already has Microsoft 365 Copilot licences, a Copilot day for managers and administrators covers drafting, summarising and analysing workbooks, with guidance on what data should stay out of prompts.

Excel Training Johor Bahru: frequently asked questions
›Can training be delivered at our site in Pasir Gudang or Senai?
Yes. The trainer delivers at your premises anywhere in Johor, including industrial sites, provided there is a room where participants can work on laptops.
›Our parent company is in Singapore. Can we still claim from HRDF?
A Malaysian company registered with HRDF claims for training its own employees. Where the parent is in Singapore, the point to settle is who employs each attendee: staff employed by the Singapore entity are outside your company’s claim, so mention them at scoping and we will confirm the arrangement with HRDF before you apply.
›What happens to levy we do not use?
Unused levy is forfeited after 2 years, down to a floor of RM10,000. A successful claim resets the clock, so a course claimed this year protects the balance behind it.
›We have staff in Johor Bahru and in Batu Pahat. How does that work?
Either one course with the Batu Pahat staff travelling in, or two batches on consecutive days so only the trainer travels. Each batch is its own group for HRDF purposes.
›Are meals for participants claimable?
The Allowable Cost Matrix allows a meal allowance of up to RM100 per trainee per day, alongside the course fee. It is claimed with the rest of the grant after the training, against the attendance record.
